Our Mission
We empower girls to lead their lives with compassion and courage by connecting them with horses in Nature’s Classroom.
In today’s statistics, “74% of girls say they are under pressure to please everyone.” *
When girls are feeling so much pressure, it is no wonder parents are concerned whether their daughters are making good decisions as they move into adolescence. There are parenting books to help the parents communicate, anti-bullying lectures at school and personal power books written specifically for kids. So why are girls feeling so much pressure and why are they not standing in their personal power? Are our daughters safe in our ever increasingly complex world?
There is a big difference between “knowing” or “remembering” something from a book and “experiencing” it. Empowered By Horses offers unique programs that teach personal power and build self-esteem by allowing girls to see the reality of their choices as they are reflected back by a herd of horses. The whole experience creates real and lasting change.
Horses are masterful at teaching life lessons and in making core lifestyle changes. This experiential learning is called Equine Guided Development. Herd dynamics are powerful metaphors for leadership, teamwork, non-verbal communication, setting boundaries, and for illustrating group and family dynamics. Horses show us a different way of relating with ourselves, others, and our environment, while teaching us awareness, trust, integrity and respect.
The sooner a child learns to be confident, stand tall and know where to turn when they need help, the better prepared they will be as they move through adolescence. Empowered By Horses offers such programs and “When Magic Happens” is now available right here in our community. From her Abbotsford farm, former police officer Carla Webb and her business partner Sharolyn Wandzura teach personal growth workshops for women and they are passionate about working with, and empowering, young girls seeking the light of success.
