Girls ‘n Horses Leadership Camp ~ July 2012

Well … what a week! Leading The Way Horse Camp for Girls brought smiles and laughter to a fabulous group of girls while studying in Nature’s Classroom.

The girls worked on a gentle approach when meeting a flock of friendly chickens that would let you pet them and pick them up if you were soft and gentle with them.

The girls explored being good citizens and helping those in need including animals when they were introduced to the new kitten Batman. Batman joined us only days before the camp as he was found very sickly by a neighbor on the side of the road.

Of course riding was a highlight for many girls as they received private lessons starting from balancing on horseback, lunging to freedom with the reins.

The finally of the week included horse painting, bathing and a campfire tenting sleepover! The weather was perfect we only were rained on the last day. Luckily it was a half day and we could keep our brave little campers dry.

There are still spots open for the

  1. Thank-you for your support Dianne! Yes the girls have so much fun in Nature's Classroom sometimes I bet they don't even "know" they are learning new life skills. 🙂

What a great idea to horse paint! This really shows how wonderful and creative your program is for young girls of any age. I bet they had a wonderful time. I continue to follow your program with ongoing studies in animal-assisted therapy and animal-assisted activities. I am so happy to see programs like this that bring value and meaning to peoples' lives. Typical programs of support for youth have not always had an impact and we need to reassess our strategies and create new programs that will strengthen families. Keep going with this great program!
