Private sessions are designed to meet the specific needs and goals of individual students. Students learn about the dynamics and nature of horses, groundwork, connected riding, and stable management. While becoming well versed in practical heart centred horsemanship skills students benefit from:
- Increased confidence and self-esteem
- Improved communication skills
- Enhanced empathy and compassion for fellow beings
- Knowledge on how to form healthy attachments to horses
- A place to belong and feel accepted
- A fun and relaxed, stress free environment to grow and just ….. be.
“My daughter Taylor has attended Empowered by Horses (Heart Centered Leadership for Girls) for the past two years. As a struggling student, I, as a parent, was looking for an activity or program that would encourage her to find her own voice and build the skill of self-confidence. We had tried other intensive programs, and tutor with limited results. Then we discovered, from word of mouth, Empowered by Horses, which has been phenomenal for my daughter. Over the past two years, her sense of self, her belief in herself, and her self-confidence (persistence, and positive self-talk) have grown and increased which has paid off in her progress at school. Further her self-esteem has increased too as she successfully navigates friendships and what I call “girl world”. Carla through her use of Shady as teaching partner has enabled my daughter to explore who she is as an individual and build her up. Carla has a quiet calmness about her that has translated into an easy rapport between my daughter and her. She listens and truly hears my daughter and vice versa. I cannot put into words the growth I have seen in my daughter, Taylor, in the past couple of years. My daughter absolutely loves coming out each week, she loves working with each of the horses and most importantly, she loves working with Carla who has each week given her valuable life lessons along with horse wisdom. Thank you Carla, Taylor has turned an important corner and believes in herself.” Linda Pollastretti – Vice-Principal, Robert Bateman Secondary
