meet the sheep

Gus is quite the character. Before he arrived at Anam Cara, he was known for his athletic skills such as jumping out of fenced-in areas. Thankfully, he soon put those Olympic aspirations on hold. Although he can be cautious at first, once he has deemed you as one of the good ones―by a deep study of your face―he will search you out for connection and snuggles. In fact, he really isn’t sheep-like at all! Gus is a card who loves to love and make people laugh, and is a favourite on the farm.

Rocky was a bottle-fed baby lamb whose mom was a first timer and not so diligent. His first human caregiver fed him often, urging him to fight to live but had to give him up when the owners told her to sell him (even if it meant for meat). One of our team members heard the story and convinced the owners to give him to us.  With diligent care, he survived those early days with vigour, doing justice to his namesake (Rocky Balboa). Today, he is curious and adventurous with a tendency of getting himself caught in brambles.  If you’re fortunate, he will snuggle close, but mostly he likes to graze by himself.
